WISDOM
Early in her career,
Miya pushed herself relentlessly
and rarely allowed herself to rest.
When she first moved to the United States,
late nights, fast food,
and iced foods and drinks
became part of everyday life.
After what seemed like an ordinary cold,
she developed a persistent cough.
Laboratory tests and medical imaging
revealed no clear abnormality,
yet the cough continued for months
without truly resolving.
She later turned to Traditional Chinese Medicine for help.
Unfortunately, the treatment direction
was not right for her,
and her condition rapidly worsened.
At its most severe,
she coughed almost continuously,
day and night.
That experience led her
to an important realization:
Herbal formulas were not powerless.
Their effects could be profound.
What mattered was
whether the direction was right—
and whether it was right
for that particular person,
at that particular time.
Miya returned to China and began nearly
a year of seeking care, observing,
and studying.
Drawing on her sensitivity to food, environment,
and changes within the body—
as well as her background in skincare
formulation and aromatherapy—
she gradually began to understand
the relationships among
the nature of ingredients,
individual constitution, timing,
and formulation.
She adjusted her own approach accordingly.
Eventually, the long-lasting cough that
had once become so severe
completely disappeared.
Her recovery did not convince her that
she had found one answer capable of
solving every problem.
Quite the opposite.
It taught her that the same ingredient
or method can lead to
entirely different outcomes
when separated from
the person, environment,
and moment in which it is used.
Through her daily encounters with plants,
the body, and the natural world,
Miya came to feel deeply that the Creator
had placed love and wisdom
throughout all that He made.
This is where Summer Tree's
founding intention
"share His love"
truly took root.
Over time, this understanding entered
every formula she created
and gradually became
Deep Calls to Deep™
formulation technology.
It is neither a simple reproduction of
traditional herbal formulas
nor an approach limited to
Chinese herbal ingredients.
