Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam)

Belonging to the marsh flower family of the Meadowfoam genus, this plant is native to northern California, Oregon, and parts of northern Europe—and was developed as a crop in the late 1950s. Meadowfoam blooms only once a year, with a fleeting five-day flowering period that reveals a milky white, elegantly pure corolla reminiscent of snow-draped plains—hence its name. Its seeds mature in winter and are harvested then. Eastern wisdom holds that “essence is concentrated in the seed,” and true to this principle, Meadowfoam seed is rich in natural oils—especially stable long-chain fatty acids, plant sterols, and vitamin E—providing a host of benefits while remaining stable and resistant to deterioration. Celebrated for its antioxidant, reparative, nourishing, anti-aging, and soothing properties, it has earned much acclaim.
